Absolute freedom of the new media would bring harm to social harmony in Malaysia.

Assalamualaikum and hello,

New media or as we know that is the lifestyle of people nowadays on getting new information. People tend to read from new media because it is easy to be find with just a click that would give much of information. When it comes to the term of new media, we know that it is from the digital world such as Internet  computers, video games and much more. Even social sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram is a type of new media. New media is a good source of finding information because we can search for what we want rather than reading one by one. Meanwhile in comparing prices, new media is way cheaper and easy to be accessed.

Even though new media is easy to access and free to express, somehow it would bring harm to social harmony. Let me explain to you guys why do I support this statement. First of all, an absolute freedom gives the right for the public to write about anything that they want to. As we all know, people nowadays very much loves to create a 3C perception from themselves. The 3C's I'm telling to you guys is CRITICIZE, COMPLAIN & CONDEMN. As for what I can see in the world today, this is the behavior of our lovely society nowadays.

When people hate something and they want to brag about it, their main source of expressing is their new media. Writing every single thing without thinking of what others feel. Let me give u a situation here, a Malay guy had an argument with a Chinese guy, what happened right after is that the Malay guy posted in his social site stating that Chinese people are stupid. What do you guys think would happen if Chinese people read those statements? Yes, racial fights between the Malays and Chinese would happen. Things like this in the new media would spread really fast and impact the real world.

As we can see on what's happening in new medias right now for the upcoming 13th election. Not only that people fought about their political parties. We can see that they even have racial fights just because of this political influence. Myself have experienced seeing two same raced best friends fought because of each others perspective in spreading news about political parties. If the freedom of the new media can lead to this situation, imagine what would happen to the social harmony here?

A second issue why do I support the statement is because of the extremist people that I called the "KEYBOARD WARRIOR". People like this, they really love to create fights between people. They will tend to create some hot issues and from that people will start commenting and fight between each other. These type of people are the ones that does this thing for the pleasure of themselves watching people fight. They give out fake facts, sources and more just to create havoc between people. This is not the thing that we wanted for our country and nation because somehow things like this leads to a bigger issue.

There are a lot more cases for which stands my ground on this statement such as DEFAMATION, SENSITIVITY, RUMORS AND MANY MORE. As for that, even though new media is an easy access to get news, information, data and more for the public, the impact of absolute freedom by it could bring harm to our country. This is why the new media should be covered and controlled by certain people. Things like this can be worse and it should be handled starting from now on for sake of the harmony in our country. Freedom of the new media is good, but there are a lot of people who misuse that freedom.

"I believe there is a limit beyond which free speech cannot go, but it's a limit that's very seldom mentioned. It's the point where free speech begins to collide with the right to privacy. I don't think there are any other conditions to free speech. I've got a right to say and believe anything I please, but I haven't got a right to press it on anybody else. .... Nobody's got a right to be a nuisance to his neighbors"
